The world is full of different kinds of people. Different interests, needs and emotions guide us through our days. Every life is unique but you can also find commonalities that bring people together.
Sometimes this commonality can be an experience, a feeling of being helped.
It was such an experience that three ordinary, from before to each other unknown people, shared one day. These three people were on their way to their own everyday tasks at nine o'clock one morning. They had no idea about each other, but fate had decided that their lives would be brought together somehow this weekday. Because all three of them needed help.
One of them put on the fireman's uniform, another opened the door to his shop, and the third started the computer in his home office. All of them had a working day ahead of them, but superficially the day they had ahead of them seemed to be very different from each other's. Around 12 noon, however, they started to happen.
Three conversations
The fire brigade had been called to extinguish a fire in a small house. The flames had started from the ground floor and the column of smoke had hit the fire extinguishers hard. Thanks to the fire extinguishers and the courage of the fire brigade, they got the fire reasonably under control. The fire had not yet been completely extinguished when the firefighter received alarming information: the intermediate floors were filled with shavings, which could easily be ignited if a piece of burning wood were to fall into the wrong place. The firefighter saw a potential horror scene ahead and decided to make a call.
The shopkeeper stood between the freezers and felt the sweat running down his back. It was a sad sight: the workers were bringing the frozen products into the freezer at a fast pace. Crumbled ice cream, soft packages and water on the floor. These were things you don't want to see near the freezers. The store owner started thinking in his head about what the situation could lead to and decided to make a call.
The working day at the home office had been full of stress. The engineer had decided to have a better lunch. After he finished eating, he sat on the coffee pot in the kitchen to prepare for the rest of the working day. After going to the toilet, there was again cause for panic. The water in the toilet didn't flush, but instead started flooding onto the floor. How was this going to be resolved, and it didn't help that a meeting was due to start in half an hour. The engineer looked at the flooding dirty water and decided to make a call.
All is well in the end
In the 24 Center offices, the morning had passed quietly. The coffee was drunk and the workers were busy with their tasks. Around noon, the customer service team received calls from 3 different people who needed help. They immediately set to work, because help was needed now.
Soon after, a high-powered vacuum truck parked in front of the house that was still smoking slightly, a vacuum truck backed into the engineer's yard and the refrigeration technician shook hands with the business owner. Even though they didn't know each other and had completely different working environments, they had shared an experience. All three needed help and all three felt relief when they got it.
The firefighter went back to the fire station relieved. They had extinguished the fire and the danger was over. He was ready for the next call.
The shopkeeper stood behind the counter, happy to have received quick help with the freezers, now the ice cream didn't have to melt anymore. He was ready to serve customers.
The engineer poured coffee into his cup and looked contentedly at the toilet, which only a moment ago was overflowing with dirty water. He was ready for the meeting that was about to begin.
And 24 Center's customer service team continued to work as usual. They are always ready to help - both day and night!
