Aircraft and locked cars

It was a dark Saturday night in October. The highway was colored yellow from the light of the lampposts. An elderly gentleman was driving his Volkswagen Bora towards Kuopio airport. The man's take-away coffee mug was smoking in the car's cup holder. The flight to Helsinki departs in an hour and a half. The time is 19:22.

The airport is located on a lake and there is no rush hour even though it is Saturday night. The man drives his car to the parking lot and parks it near the main entrance to the airport. He finishes his coffee and gets out of the car to take his luggage from the trunk. He closes the door immediately. Then there is a small knock and the car locks itself. 

The man becomes slightly nervous and tries to open the door. It does not help, it is locked. He goes to the tailgate. It is also locked. All the doors are locked and the keys to the car are stuck in the ignition. It's less than an hour and a half until the flight leaves and both his luggage and keys are still in the car. Even the phone was left in the car.

He decides to ask for help from the airport staff. The staff reacts immediately and calls help for the man. They called 24 Center and asked how long it would take to get a professional on site to open the locked door. The customer service agent promised the locksmith would be there within the hour, and this was good enough for the staff.

The man is waiting at the entrance to the terminal. He looks nervously at his watch. It's a little over 45 minutes until the plane departs and the lock expert arrives on site. He greets the man with the lock problem, asks him to show him where the car is and sets off. It doesn't take long for the expert to unlock the car.

The gentleman thanks them for their help, grabs his mobile phone, keys and luggage and starts walking towards security - they recognize him at security and let him through the queue. The security check goes quickly and smoothly and the man makes it to the plane on time. When he finally gets to sit down, he lets out a sigh of relief.
