Key broken off in the lock of the garage
Contractors' time is usually precious. One contractor almost lost a large chunk of this precious time one morning in January.
The man was sitting in his kitchen drinking his morning coffee while going through the day's newspaper. He is an entrepreneur and has the day's work ahead of him. After he has had breakfast and drunk his coffee, it is time to get out and perform. The man gets up, puts on his jacket and boots and steps outside. It is cold and his breath steams in the fresh air.
The man's car is parked in the garage and the thought of a fully heated car feels good. He walks up to the garage door while the snow creaks on the ladder. He takes out his key and pushes it into the Abloy lock. As he tries to turn the key, he realizes that everything is not as it should be. The key is stuck and he can't turn it. He thinks to himself that it's probably just sluggish in the lock when it's so cold. So he puts a little extra force into the turning. Then there is a crack and the man stands puzzled and stares at a broken key. Half in his hand and half still in the lock.
He stands there for a while and thinks about what to do. He can't stay home from work today, his calendar is full. He has a spare key, but because the key stub is stuck deep in the lock, spare keys won't help.
